The Lake Tucked away in rolling hills at the base of Linville Gorge near the Blue Ridge Parkway is Lake James, a 6,510-acre pristine lake with more than 150 miles of shoreline. This impressive waterway is the centerpiece of Lake James State Park and the first lake in the Catawba river system. Close to Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain and more.

Lake James is perfect for swimming, sailing, waterskiing, sunbathing, enjoying a picnic along the lakeshore or boating to a waterfront eatery. The cool mountain waters quickly warm in the summer months and extensive shoreline protections guarantee the lake will always be beautiful, healthy and uncrowded. Hiking trails abound around the lake with an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife along park trails. Living on Lake James is a wonderful experience reserved for a very few fortunate people. |
